Forest Way near Hartfield
Forest Way was once the East Grinstead to Tunbridge Wells Railway. It is now a popular walking and cycle route between East Grinstead and Groombridge.

The railway was opened in 1866 and closed at the beginning of 1967. Ironically Dr Beeching who lived near to this line just outside East Grinstead, was a season ticket holder and travelled regularly over this very route. It is now an attractive cycle track and footpath. This is where a footpath to Hartfield crosses the old line.

The next station behind where I am standing was Forest Row and the next station a short distance ahead was Hartfield. This website tells more about the line and about Hartfield station - LinkExternal link
