SE1316 : Factory, Birkhouse Lane, North Crosland, Lockwood I've yet to find my own less than wonderful shot of this site. The tall structure clad with what appears to be asbestos cement boarding is a boiler riveting tower. A rare survivor (there was one next to Cradley Heath Railway Station). This was Birkhouse Boiler Works and boiler shells would be suspended vertically and riveted in that position. I believe there was hydraulic riveting kit. The site closed as a boiler works a few years ago and featured in Old Glory magazine.
