Norton Lindsey, Holy Trinity - font
The stone font, in a traditional location just inside the main door, is believed to be of Saxon origin and therefore older than the church building itself. The wooden cover was made in 2008 to mark the 800th anniversary of the present building.
Church of the Holy Trinity, Norton Lindsey

The church is believed to occupy a Saxon, or possibly even pre-Christian, sacred site; certainly the font dates from Saxon times. Most of the walls date from 1208 though the building was re-roofed and enlarged with a north aisle and vestry in 1880 by E Christian [probably Ewan Christian, who also rebuilt nearby Claverdon church]. It is now listed grade II* (list entry 1186751).
