Dredging work on the impounded section of the River Lagan. “Navigation information - Dredging - 16 September 2019 - 31 March 2020
Notice is hereby given that the River Lagan impoundment between Lagan Weir and Stranmillis Weir will be undergoing a major maintenance dredging project commencing 16 September 2019 and programmed for completion 31 March 2020. During this period the river will be closed to all traffic heading from Belfast Harbour unless prior written permission has been issued by the River Manager.
The dredging project will commence at Stranmillis Weir and will be phased so that sections of the river will be handed over to rowers for recreational use as they are completed” - River notice 31/19 “Navigation information - Dredging - 16 September 2019 - 31 March 2020”.
“The provision of maintenance dredging along the length of the impounded River Lagan from Stranmillis Weir to the Lagan Weir over a length of approximately 4.7Km to a level of -1.2m O.D. and the dredging and reinstatement of the 10m wide incised incised channel to a depth of -2.5m O.D. All dredged materials shall be disposed of at sea in line with the Marine and Coastal Access Act (MCAA) license issued by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA)” - E-tenders NI website.
