Dry stone wall on Coppet Hill
Dry stone wall on Coppet Hill
According to Mike Thompson's "A Short Walk on the Hill", this wall - which stretches along the ridge of Coppet Hill for almost two miles - is the boundary between the common land managed by the Coppet Hill Trust and the land owned by the Courtfield Estate. Courtfield was originally known as Greenfield, but the name was changed after the baby who was to become King Henry V was taken there - along with his Court - for safekeeping after his birth in nearby Monmouth.
