The massive Brabazon hangar will no longer be a place where the noise of engineering will be heard. Having closed as a working airfield recently, Filton will be transformed into a brand new suburb. Plans are in place for some 2,500 houses, schools, surgeries and new transport links are about to be engaged. This hangar is said to be the ideal candidate for conversion into an event arena - something Bristol does not really have at the present. The 115ft high hangars cover an area of 400,000 square feet - large enough to house the O2 arena inside!
