NS4682 : Moraine ridge

taken 6 years ago, 4 km WSW of Craighat, Stirling, Scotland

Moraine ridge
Moraine ridge
A wavy mound recedes from view. It is a terminal moraine; see the end-note for details. A rock not far ahead, near the right-hand edge of the picture, is what I take to be a glacial erratic: NS4682 : Glacial erratic on moraine ridge.
The Aucheneck moraine

Moraine ridges are apparent on parts of Cameron Muir and near Aucheneck; they, and other landforms nearby, are associated with the Loch Lomond Readvance glacier. See LinkExternal link (an 80KB PDF at DEFRA) for a site account, which includes a diagram showing the distribution of glacial landforms and deposits in this area.
