This Rutland Radio car was spotted on Lincoln Road in Glinton. The station was headquartered in Oakham and broadcast to the Rutland and Stamford areas. Launched in December 1998, Radio Rutland was one of eight independent local radio stations owned by the Lincoln-based Lincs FM Group.
The building in the background is the former Crown public house, which closed in 2006. After a very brief reincarnation as an Indian restaurant, The Crown was converted into a children's nursery.
UPDATE: Following the acquisition of Lincs FM Group by German media concern Bauer in February 2019, Rutland Radio was replaced by Greatest Hits Radio in September 2020 although it continued to broadcast local news and traffic bulletins. With effect from September 2023, the former Rutland Radio transmission area was served by Greatest Hits Radio Peterborough, Stamford and Rutland.
