There was a pub called The Angel Inn on this site in 1844. When the turret topped with a cupola was added is uncertain. LinkExternal link At one time it was a Wilsons pub but closed in 1980s. Between 1987 and 1998 it was used as a hotel. In 2013 it was facing demolition. The structure was in fact demolished LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) but the facade and bell tower were retained and incorporated into the Vimto Gardens development LinkExternal link built next door.
