International Convention Centre - energy centre
This is part of the Birmingham District Energy Scheme and is operated by ENGIE in partnership with Birmingham Council. It is a trigeneration scheme with combined heat and power alongside cooling using absorption chillers powered by waste heat from the CHP engine exhaust. There are also conventional boilers for top up. Several local buildings benefit from the scheme. It is rated at 6.7 MWe, 60 MW heat and 4.9- MW of cooling. The scheme save 12000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per annum.
