Much of the Lanyon Building is currently covered by scaffolding and plastic sheeting. The contractor, in a press release dated 20 September 2017, describes the work as “On this occasion our team is working on the Lanyon Building, on the main campus of Queens University, where new external fabric repair works to its west, north and south façades are the focus. Works will include repairs to and replacement of brickwork, stonework and lattice windows, repairs to and up-grading of rainwater goods, cleaning of the façade masonry, repairs to roofing and associated temporary disconnections or diversions of services to facilitate these works. Part of our project remit also extends to external lighting installation to illuminate this iconic building.
This is a lengthy contract at 90 weeks through which time the Lanyon must remain in operation as a University building”. Continue to J3372 : Repair work, Queen's University, Belfast - June 2018(1) and J3372 : Repair work, Queen's University, Belfast - June 2018(2).
