J3295 : Junction Lane name sign, Ballybracken, Ballynure/Larne (July 2017)
taken 8 years ago, 6 km NE of Ballyclare, Co Antrim, Northern Ireland
One 1 May 2012 the Minister for Regional Development announced that the rebuilding of the remaining stretch single carriageway on the Belfast – Larne Road had been approved. It involves nine miles “of new dual carriageway from Coleman’s Corner Roundabout to Ballyrickard Road. Work on the dual carriageway is expected to start in June this year and take two and a half years to complete”. Most of the proposed route will follow the existing alignment. One main exception being at Ballynure where it will bypass the village on the western side.

Description amended 6 March 2016: the ceremonial start of work was on 15 October 2012 with the cutting of the opening tape on 20 December 2015. As is usual in roads of this type various parts were in use before the official opening.
