“It goes from here to there”
This very workmanlike looking boat – named Mary Brunel - shuttles busily back and forth between the Great Western Dockyard and Gasworks wharf providing a very useful cross-harbour ferry service. The title is part of the lettering painted on the boat.

The ferry link is of long standing, being shown on 1880s OS maps, although it is marked as 'Disused' on maps from the 1970s and 80s. Doubtless the end of commercial docks use in the 1970s was the reason for its demise, but now that the south side of the Floating Harbour has developed as a tourist attraction (and residential area) it has been worth reviving.
