This part of Coed Cymerau is a Gwarchodfa Natur Genedlaethol [National Nature Reserve]. It is a 'temperate rainforest', and ancient woodland. There is a network of paths around Blaenau Ffestiniog, linking homes, schools, quarries and chapels. The path crossing the river here is part of the Ardal Moel Ystradau Area circular walk, no. 3 in the town leaflet.
