The Ashby Canal near Snarestone in Leicestershire
A telephoto assisted image looking south from near Faulks Bridge, No 62. In the distance is the former pumping station, now a private residence.

This is part of the restored section of the Ashby Canal which was rewatered during 2016(?). It is not yet part of the Canal and River Trust network.

There is a terminal (temporary?) winding hole for boats up to about 50 feet in length behind the camera.
Currently there are some restrictions on navigating this canal. Link
Snarestone Pumping Station

Built in the early 1890s by Hinckley Urban District Council for fresh water supply, the site made use of an existing coal exploration shaft. Later taken over by Leicester City Council, it was initially converted to electric operation, but subsequently closed completely. The buildings remain intact and have been converted to residential use.
