The medieval door is made of thick oak boards placed vertically on the outside and horizontally inside and is studded with long wrought iron nails which are driven through the door and clenched on the inside. The door dates to the 14th century was originally the main entrance.

Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, Eccles

The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, Eccles has stood on the same site for at least 800 years and is therefore the oldest church in the City of Salford.
