Frozen marsh at Delamere Forest
Delamere Forest
Delamere Forest covers 972 hectares (2,400 acres) and is the largest area of woodland in Cheshire - comprising a mixture of deciduous and evergreen trees. It is the remnant of the hunting forests of the Earls of Chester and has been administered by the Forestry Commission since 1924. Today, recreational activity is encouraged, including walking orienteering and horse riding, making use of the network of paths and tracks. There is a visitor centre with a cafe, shop and cycle hire facility as well as a station on the mid Cheshire line.
