Llyn Cwm Bychan and Roman Steps
A drive up an ever narrowing road/track from Llanbedr brings you to Llyn Cwm Bychan in the Rhinogydd mountains of Snowdonia.
This is a starting point for walking the Roman Steps.
The view is from the lakeside by the track just before you reach the car park - the car park being a farmer's field with an honesty box on the gate - looking across Llyn Cwm Bychan towards the Roman Steps where they cut up through some beautiful woodlands and on up into the Rhinogydd mountains.
A beautiful, warm Saturday in May when it seemed as if we were the only people there - the only sounds being the many cuckoos giving voice with determination, the bubble of the stream and the occasional sigh of a light breeze.
Llyn Cwm Bychan is one of the sources of the Afon Artro which flows south westwards through Llanbedr and onwards to the sea.
