Jolly Carter
The Jolly Carter was first licensed around 1868 when it was just a small one room beerhouse kept by James Rogers. A spirits licence was granted in 1928 after the butcher's shop next door had been incorporated. A licence to sell wine was obtained in 1940. Since then it has seen a number of changes. For a time it was a Gartside's pub and then a Bass Charrington's. Recently it has had yet another makeover and acquired new signage.
