Earthwork in Morcott Spinney
Earthwork in Morcott Spinney
This is a scheduled monument, but there is no clear indication of precisely what it was. It has been variously identified as an uncompleted motte, a Civil War artillery emplacement and a viewpoint for a landed estate. Aerial photography from 2011 indicates further earthworks outside the spinney, suggesting an 'outer bailey' but without any confirmation that they are associated with the main earthwork.
