SJ8097 : Mini Burble Show at MediaCityUK
taken 10 years ago, near to Trafford Park, Trafford, England
Mini Burble is an interactive, LED-lit inflatable sculpture made of 300 helium-filled balloons, each of which is fitted with sensors and an LED light, allowing each balloon to act as an individual light source whilst responding to those around it.
Situated on the MediaCityUK Piazza, Mini Burble was launched at 9pm on Tuesday 14th July, and then shown twice every evening until Saturday 18th July. The first show each day was in daylight between 5:00pm - 7:30pm and was not illuminated; the second show, from 9:30pm - 10:30pm was illuminated. The colours were controlled by members of the audience using an iPad application and/or tweeting from their mobile phones. Their interaction with the artwork triggered up to 170 different animated colours.
This show at Salford Quays was the centrepiece of a week-long celebration of art, technology and performance and followed similar performances in Dubai, Hong Kong, Paris and Barcelona.
