This level crossing is immediately east of SU8504 : Chichester Railway Station. The road to the right is Stockbridge Road, while to the left it is called Southgate - the southern end of South Street.
The view is eastwards along the West Coastway line, where the next stop is Barnham unless the train diverts along the short spur to Bognor Regis.
This line is part of "Southern" train operating company's area, though First Great Western's Worcester to Brighton service also uses this line.
The photo was taken from a footbridge between the L/C and the station allowing pedestrians to cross the line when the gates of L/C are closed as in this instance.
