Abbey Mill Sluice, Tewkesbury
A nearby Environment Agency information board states that this single fish-belly sluice has replaced two old sluices across the Mill Avon. When the sluice is in the up position, it forms a weir to maintain river depth upstream. The down position allows the free flow of the river in times of flooding.
