The Barrack Yard at Chester Castle
The Barrack Yard at Chester Castle
The Barrack Yard at Chester Castle is an early example completed in 1810. In earlier times soldiers were billeted on the townsfolk which unsurprisingly was not very popular. The building in the centre is the original cookhouse, separate from the barracks in case a fire should break out.
