Heading southeast towards the centre of Deans, one of the Livingston satellite suburbs; it continues behind the photographer as the Nellburn Path, which crosses the M8 by footbridge 25 NT0269 : Numbered footbridge on M8, giving access to Wester Dechmont and the industrial estate. The gate pillars are a remnant of the drive to Dechmont House LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) . The house was built in 1863 and bought by James 'Paraffin' Young's partner Edward Meldrum - for his biography and obituary see LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) . It was subsequently acquired by Livingston Development Corporation and demolished in the 1960s. It is near here that the 'Robert Taylor incident' occurred in 1979, a suspected alien encounter LinkExternal link and LinkExternal link
