Taking a fresh look at this photo from 2009, I was struck by the unusual appearance of the boat in the foreground which looks like a bit like a botched photo-shop stitch-up job due to it's unusual lines and combination of portholes and square windows.
A little research revealed that she was launched at nearby Rosneath as "Galen" in 1941 for Glasgow Corporation, to ferry stretcher-bound patients from ship to shore. She was acquried by David MacBrayne in 1947 and renamed "Lochnell" at that time.
This
photo of her in ferry service in 1955 shows that the square windows were not present at that time. These were possibly added when she was re-engined in 1965.
She retired as a ferry in 1981 and has had various owners since then. Her current whereabouts or condition are not known.
