North corner of Powderham Belvedere
The triangular belvedere stands at the highest point of the estate. It is listed grade 2* (list entry number 1306164) as being "high quality 18th century Gothick". But the tower, built in 1771-4 for the 2nd Viscount Courtenay, is now derelict.
Powderham Castle and estate :: SX9683

The castle is privately owned (i.e. nor English Heritage or National Trust) and is still the seat of the Courtenays, Earls of Devon. Medieval in origin, heavily altered in the 18th & 19th centuries. Grade 1 listed, a full description can be found at LinkExternal link . It is open to the public and admission includes access to the Belvedere, but not to Powderham Park (see separate shared description), the deer park around the castle.
