Loch Monar
The remains of an alluvial fan where the Allt Coire na Faochaige once met the Garbh-uisge downstream of the outlet of the original loch. Loch Monar was much enlarged by a dam in the late 1950s. Today's loch is not much wider than the natural loch, but extends many kilometres to the west beyond Pait Lodge.
Much of the land visible in this image is mapped as loch by the Ordnance Survey who tend to exaggerate the extent of hydroelectric developments.
