SE0754 : A large tree stump

taken 12 years ago, near to Bolton Abbey, North Yorkshire, England

A large tree stump
A large tree stump
This tree close to Bolton Priory buildings must have been impressively large, and looked to have been recently felled. It must have been felled since 2009, since one branch of the tree seems to appear in SE0754 : The west tower - Priory Church of St Mary and St Cuthbert.
Bolton Priory

Bolton Abbey is an estate in Wharfedale in North Yorkshire, which takes its name from the ruined 12th-century Augustinian monastery now generally known as Bolton Priory. It is adjacent to the village of Bolton Abbey. See the Wikipedia entry LinkExternal link for a more detailed history.

The whole site is listed as a Scheduled Ancient Monument, and St Mary's church (the nave of the old priory, which remains in use as an Anglican parish church) is listed grade 1.
