Cut logs in Broadfield Wood, Brookes Reserve

Looks like some active woodland management has been taking place in this part of Broadfield Wood, as well as a pile of cut logs, note recently coppiced trees, and a whole trunk recently felled.

Notice a spring primrose in the foreground.

Brookes Nature Reserve :: TL7931

Named after Thomas Brookes, the 18th century owner, this reserve is owned by the Coda Wildlife Trust and managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust.

This 60 acre site, which has SSSI status, comprises over 40 acres of ancient woodland, the rest being former arable fields, more info from the Essex Wildlife Trust website: Link
