Thanks for posting these pictures of Wildmoorway Lower Lock, Brian. Brings back memories. About 10 years ago I was involved in the restoration of this lock. Indeed much of the brickwork on the right hand side and these steps in this picture
SU0797 : Wildmoorway Lower Lock, Thames and Severn canal, near South Cerney are my handiwork.
Most of the right hand wall
SU0797 : Wildmoorway Lower Lock, Thames and Severn canal, near South Cerney (2) had disappeared completely, due to previous bad repairs where the bricks was not tied into sound brickwork.
The Lockkeepers cottage had also all but disappeared, the only thing remaining being a gable end. So this
SU0797 : Wildmoorway Lower Lock keeper's cottage, Thames and Severn canal, near South Cerney is virtually a complete rebuild.
I'll submit some pictures of the restoration when I have converted them from 35mm slides.
Edited for spelling (as always!)
