Before it was dualled and diverted, the old A419 ran along the course of the Roman road, Ermin Way. Here, it approaches the Spine Road junction. Much of the old road has been preserved between Cirencester and Cricklade, providing a pleasanter driving experience than the hectic dual carriageway, and a safe road for walkers, cyclists, joggers and riders.
