Looking over the Ashton Canal towards the steps which lead from the City of Manchester (Etihad) Stadium to the new Etihad Campus Metrolink station which has staggered side platforms on each side of Joe Mercer Way, the pedestrian bridge which can be seen crossing over the canal to the left hand side of the picture.

This station is part of the Metrolink East Manchester Line Extension. This line, which will eventually run to Ashton-Under-Lyne, is scheduled to open “before Christmas 2012” between Manchester Piccadilly and Droylsden
