SD9164 : The falls at Gordale Scar

taken 12 years ago, near to Malham, North Yorkshire, England

The falls at Gordale Scar
The falls at Gordale Scar
The lower falls tumble over a large boss of tufa (dissolved limestone re-deposited) and it is possible to scramble up between them on large bucket holds. The upper fall enters the gorge through a natural rock arch. Huge overhanging rock walls create an atmospheric and unique spectacle.
