Drystone wall, Rathlin Island
Drystone wall, Rathlin Island
Dry stone wall on Rathlin Island. There are many on the island, believed to date from the early 1800s. This one is easier to date than most as the builders have cleverly inserted the date of construction - 1835 - into the wall by using black basalt rocks into the usual limestone.
