Route of former railway line near Southorpe
This used to be part of the railway line from Stamford to Wansford. It was opened in 1867 and closed decades before the Beeching cuts of the 1960's. The final passenger traffic here was 1929. Some sources give 1931 as the date of the final goods traffic, but others say it was 1929. There was a goods siding somewhere around here but the Uffington Bridge railway station was partly under the bridge in the distance, and partly to its north. Today there is a public footpath running along this part of the former line.
