Papplewick Pumping Station - steam pumps
These are two small steam pumping engines in the workshop building. The one on the left is Thomas Matthews and in addition to being a pump that could act as a boiler feed pump, it originally drove the workshop machinery by a belt from the flywheel rim. This is of the type known generically as a banjo pump due to the shape of the bridle around the crankshaft. The other engine is a Merryweather fire pump from Springfield Mill Sandiacre - SK4836 : Firepump, Springfield Mill SK4836 : Springfield Mill, Sandiacre.
