taken 14 years ago, 4 km W of Waskerley, County Durham, England

Cyclists on the Waskerley Way
Cyclists on the Waskerley Way
For much of the eastern end of the C2C National Cycle Route LinkExternal link the route follows old railway tracks, including the Waskerley Way which follows the old Stanhope and Tyne railway up to Park Head. The chimney on the skyline is a relic of the old lead-mining industry which was so important in the area in the 19th century.
