Red Bank sidings
The railway east of Manchester Victoria used to split in two: the northern branch being known as the Manchester Loop, which regained the main line about two miles out at Dean Lane. At this time (1987) the loop consisted of two main running tracks and some sidings. Here a class 31 locomotive is seen in the sidings from a passing train, with the evening sunlight reflecting off it. The CIS building in the background gives a directional fix, but the precise location could be a few hundred metres out. The Manchester Loop was lifted some years later so this is now a historical view.
