Looking south in 1973 over the Firth of Forth towards South Queensferry. The road bridge is wearing out after just under half a century, while the rail bridge is still going strong after well over a century - it opened in 1890.
This is a very useful aerial image. Hound Point tanker terminal at the left and a southward view over Queensferry putting th ebridges in context. Also shows the warming effect of the water, with snow lying just inland. There are a lot of ground level images represented here, could be a fun exercise identifying them from the air.
