Footbridge across Bottom Dumble
The deep-cut nature of the watercourses in the Lambley Dumbles is well illustrated here. The path crosses some 3 metres above the stream bed, and is itself some 2-3 metres below the level of the fields on either side. The problem of flash flooding is also evident from the size of the stream bed in comparison with the minimal flow, even in mid-October, and a quite severe flood occurred in 2007 following a downpour in the Dorket Head area.
The steep sides of the watercourse have also enabled tree growth unencumbered by agriculture forming a unique type of linear ancient woodland based on oak and ash.
