Wild Cabbage (Brassica oleracea)

Rather dissimilar to the tight round balls one sees in the greengrocer's, this is a plant of coastal scrub and rough ground. It is not as common or widespread as might have been expected.

I took this with a telephoto lens so it is probably not as steep as it looks. They seemed a bit close to the edge though. The nearly vertical chalk face of Freshwater Cliff is beyond.
