There is much evidence of tin mining in the area. Here is a disused mine shaft, now capped with a metal cone to prevent animals and people from coming to grief. Beyond is the impressive coastline leading towards Cligga Head.

A welded steel mesh cone protecting an otherwise open mine shaft. Its design is to allow the passage in and out of the shaft by the many bats that live in it.
