The south western half of this square, between the Thames and the railway, is low lying flood plain. Often under water in Winter, Summer brings a lush crop of wild plants.

Behind Marsh Lock
Behind the lock, on the eastern bank of the river, is a small stream that is home to a number of small craft, including one of the river police launches. Quite a peaceful haven in contrast to the activity going on at the lock 10 metres to the left.
