Discussion on SD7628

In 1942 my father was in the National Fire Service.
We lived in Accrington. I was pleased to find these images of the Old Fire Station... and I wonder whether this was the station at which he was posted. How old is this building and was it in service during WW2? can anyone help.?
Further to this , are any records kept about that period?
I will be visiting UK ( from Aiustralia) in September and I would love to have some leads to research in that short period.

On another subject, we lived on Blackburn Rd, near a high school, and near the railway and a timber yard . Of course, everyone would know where that is , from that description ! But I was only 4 yrs old, these are my memories.
