Heald Wood
On the west bank of Windermere. An important moss floored oak woodland which also has many massive trees. The large one in shot is a Wych Elm I think.

Tarn on Claife Heights
This tarn is unnamed on the OS maps (it is not Three Dubs Tarn, that is further west), but I rely on David Brown SD3897 : Brownstone Tarn for the name Brownstone Tarn.

Walk around Claife Heights [36]
This rocky outcrop at the side of the path commands an extensive view.

High Blind How, Claife Heights (270m)
This is a pleasant spot and the highest point of Claife but the view is somewhat restricted by the trees which only allow intermittent views. Forestry operations nearby may open up things soon?

Yachts on Lake Windermere, Cumbria
Yachts lie quietly at anchor, whilst a small jet flies very low over the mountains. In this photograph, the plane can be seen just below the mountain top, to the right of the masts. I'm glad that I wasn't a passenger!

Claife Heights
The trig point on the top of Claife Heights (270m or 886ft above sea level). This is the top of the high ground between Windermere and Hawkshead.
