Matt Pottinger

MATT POTTINGER is a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Hoover Institution and Chair of the China Program at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. He served as U.S. Deputy National Security Adviser from 2019 to 2021. Earlier in his career, Pottinger was China correspondent for Reuters and The Wall Street Journal, fought in Iraq and Afghanistan as a U.S. Marine, and led an Asia-focused risk consultancy.
