John Chrastka, Executive Director
EveryLibrary’s founder is John Chrastka, a long-time library trustee, supporter, and advocate. John is a former partner in AssociaDirect, a Chicago-based consultancy focused on supporting associations in membership recruitment, conference, and governance activities. He is a former president and member of the Board of Trustees for the Berwyn (IL) Public Library (2006 – 2015) and is a former president of the Reaching Across Illinois Libraries System (RAILS) multi-type library system. He is co-author of “Before the Ballot; Building Support for Library Funding.” and “Winning Elections and Influencing Politicians for Library Funding.” Before his work at AssociaDirect, he was Director for Membership Development at the American Library Association (ALA) and a co-founder of the Ed Tech startup ClassMap. He was named a 2014 Mover & Shaker by Library Journal and tweets @mrchrastka.
Patrick "PC" Sweeney, Digital Director
Patrick "PC" Sweeney is a 2007 San Jose School of Library and Information Sciences graduate and former Administrative Librarian and School Librarian and was Executive Director of EveryLibrary California, a statewide initiative to support library propositions. He was awarded Library Journal’s “Movers and Shakers” award in 2015 for his library advocacy work. He is co-author of “Winning Elections and Influencing Politicians for Library Funding” as well as “Before the Ballot; Building Support for Library Funding.” He was recently recognized with a “40 Under 40” award by the American Association of Political Consultants for his work fighting for libraries at EveryLibrary. He is a lecturer at the San Jose Information School where he teaches courses on politics and libraries. He is active across social media as PC Sweeney.
Peter Bromberg, Associate Director
Peter has over 30 years of experience applying a human-centered approach to the transformation of library services, creating value and positive experiences for people and communities while fostering healthy, equitable, and effective organizational climates. As a library advocate on local, state, and national levels, he coaches and consults with library leaders, boards, grassroots groups, and associations to develop effective messaging and build strong community and political support for library funding. As a library director in Salt Lake City, Peter applied an equity lens to board development, operations, and policy development, garnering a Distinguished Service Award from the American Society for Public Administrators (ASPA) for his work in eliminating inequitable barriers to service. Ashley Stewart, Campaign Strategist
Ashley is a seasoned campaigner who has successfully run for office and supported libraries on the ballot. She is the former Director of the Caseyville (IL) Public Library District, where she managed staff, community partnerships, and financials. Since 2021, she has served as an elected Township Trustee for Collinsville, IL, with fiduciary, policy, and strategic responsibilities for this local government unit and sits on the Madison County Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Advisory Council. She has a Masters of Social Work from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Ashley is a Social Work Advisor to PLA, the Public Library Association, is a sought-after speaker at library conferences and is a frequent guest lecturer for MLS/MLIS programs across the country.
Martha McGehee, Project Manager
Martha provides extensive project management support across EveryLibrary's various activities and campaigns, notably as Series Editor for our Medium magazine for the public. She holds a Master's Degree in Library and Information Sciences from UNC-Greensboro, where she was a Graduate Research Assistant for the HEAL (Healthy Eating Active Living in Libraries) Research Grant. She has served as Secretary/Treasurer of the NCLA Library Advocacy and Legislation Section and interned for Cornelia Anderson Consulting. She began her tenure with EveryLibrary as a research and policy Intern.
John Rosai, Fundraising Coordinator
John Rosai serves as the Fundraising Coordinator for EveryLibrary and the Everylibrary Institute, where he plays an important role in donor relations, outreach strategies, and all things fundraising. Since joining EveryLibrary, John has worked to expand donor engagement and fundraising processes, contributing to the organization's mission to support libraries nationwide.
John's professional journey began as an Intern for Rep. Salud Carbajal in California’s 24th congressional district, where he gained valuable experience in political advocacy and constituent services. This role honed his skills in communication and policy analysis, laying a strong foundation for his current position.
John holds a degree in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he developed a deep understanding of political systems and their applications in the nonprofit sector.
