About this ebook
The Hedgehog House by Gabriela Charatsari is a heartwarming children's book about Bella, a 10-year-old girl who initially despises nature and animals. Bella's family takes a holiday to a remote cottage atop a mountain in a tiny Italian village with only 12 residents, surrounded by vast woods. Bella is glued to her iPad and shows her frustration by mistreating animals—a cat, a fox, and even mosquitoes.
One day, after running away from the house to escape biting mosquitoes, Bella gets lost in the eerie, mysterious woods. Her journey through the wilderness becomes a turning point as she encounters various animals she once mistreated. They teach her vital lessons about kindness, respect for nature, and self-awareness.
The story captures Bella's transformation as she learns to appreciate the beauty of the natural world and develops empathy for all living things, delivering an important message about personal growth and environmental responsibility.

The Hedgehog House
Morning came, and Bella's parents called,
I’ve had enough!
she shouted in rage, But her parents looked calm, not even engaged.
Bella turned to look at the fox, feeling scared, She wanted to run, but she froze, unprepared. With the fox by her side, she tried not to scream, The wolves’ eyes glowed, like a scary dream. | The fox looked at Bella and gave a loud call, Summoning friends who stood proud and tall. Then suddenly, six wolves came from the trees, Their eyes fixed on them, making them freeze. | Just as the wolves were ready to charge, A pack of deer appeared, standing large. They formed a circle around Bella with care, Protecting her closely, a strong, brave lair. | The fox was beside her, steady and brave, While one wolf growled low, ready to misbehave. Bella stood frozen, filled with dread and fear,
Bella followed the fox through the trees so tall, The forest was quiet, no noise at all.
The mama boar and baby walked away, Leaving Bella to continue on her way. She walked for hours, the day turning to night, Her legs felt tired, but she kept up the fight.
Suddenly, something made Bella wake with a start, A tiny mouse dashed by, quick as a dart!
She loved the animals, the trees, and the sky,
Bella’s heart was full of love and cheer, She knew now that kindness was always near.
