In the past, women knitted out of necessity often gathering with others to share stories to the soothing rhythm of needles. Yesterday’s necessity is today’s pleasure. Today’s knitting inspires with its variety of patterns and yarns both natural and synthetic in a dazzling array of colors, twists, weights and textures for projects ranging from art to funky and fashion.
Getting started takes just two simple stitches, knit and purl, and a ball of yarn to make a sensational scarf. Add a few simple techniques and you have a classic hat.
With the features-full knitbook as your guide, you’ll soon be knitting successfully and going beyond the basics to new techniques.
Knitters say there are no rules, so with the basics in hand, experiment. Get to know your yarns. Practice several of the stitch varieties offered. Explore, Enjoy. Celebrate and connect through knitting.
