Let the parade begin!
1. The Invitation
The animals of the world receive a mysterious invitation to participate in the first-ever Great Big Animal Parade.
It was a quiet morning in the jungle when the first whispers began to spread. The sun had barely risen, casting golden beams through the thick canopy, and the air was filled with the usual sounds of rustling leaves, birdsong, and the distant chatter of monkeys. But something was different about this day. Something exciting was about to happen.
At the heart of the jungle, a great old baobab tree stood tall, its thick trunk towering over the forest floor. It was under this tree that many of the animals gathered each day to greet the morning. But today, as the first rays of sunlight filtered through the leaves, something unexpected appeared at the base of the tree—a small, glittering envelope that shimmered in the sunlight.
The first to notice it was Tessa the Toucan, perched on a high branch. Her sharp eyes caught the glint of gold, and she let out a surprised squawk. What’s that? A letter in the middle of the jungle?
The other animals, curious about the commotion, gathered around the base of the tree, all eyes fixed on the mysterious envelope.
It's so shiny!
said Leo the Lion, approaching with cautious curiosity. His deep voice rumbled as he bent down to inspect the glittering envelope. It wasn’t often that strange things appeared in the jungle, and it wasn’t every day that something so out of place as an envelope found its way to them.
Who could it be from?
asked Zara the Zebra, her stripes glistening in the early morning light as she trotted over to the gathering crowd. She was always the curious one, her eyes sparkling with wonder.
Maybe it’s an invitation to a party!
suggested Coco the Monkey, swinging down from the trees with a mischievous grin. Or maybe it’s a treasure map!
His tail flicked with excitement.
It looks important,
said Ella the Elephant, her trunk slowly reaching out to take the envelope. The animals all quieted down as Ella gently lifted the envelope and examined it. On the front, written in shimmering letters, were the words:
To all the animals of the world, You are invited to the first-ever Great Big Animal Parade!
The Great Big Animal Parade?
Leo repeated, his deep voice full of wonder. What could that be?
Ella carefully opened the envelope and pulled out a letter made of the finest golden paper. As she unfolded it, the sunlight seemed to make the words dance across the page. The animals leaned in closer, eager to hear what it said.
Ella began to read aloud in her wise and steady voice:
"Dear Creatures of the Land, Sky, and Sea,
A grand event is upon us, the first of its kind! You are all invited to join the Great Big Animal Parade, where every creature is welcome to show off their unique talents, colors, and spirit. The parade will be a celebration of who we are, of friendship and unity. It will take place in the Great Meadow, a land where all animals can come together in harmony. Prepare your costumes, your music, your best performances. The world is watching, and the parade will be the grandest event ever seen!
Yours truly,
The Parade Committee"
As Ella finished reading, a wave of excited chatter rippled through the crowd. The birds flapped their wings in anticipation, the monkeys chattered excitedly, and the lions roared their approval. Even the normally shy animals, like Miri the Meerkat and Benji the Bat, exchanged eager looks, intrigued by the idea of a grand parade.
But what is the Great Big Animal Parade?
asked Miri, peeking out from behind a rock. Her eyes were wide with curiosity. I’ve never heard of it before.
It sounds exciting, but what will we do?
added Zara the Zebra, her stripes seeming to shimmer with excitement. We’ve never had a parade in the jungle before.
Leo the Lion stood tall, his mane rustling in the breeze as he spoke. It’s clear we’re supposed to show off our strengths, our talents. This could be an opportunity for us to celebrate everything that makes us unique!
Maybe we could form a parade band!
suggested Coco the Monkey, somersaulting in the air. I could play the drums with my tail!
I could help lead the march!
said Leo, puffing out his chest. My roar would let everyone know it’s time to start.
Oh, and we could decorate ourselves with flowers and paint!
said Zara, her hooves clapping together in excitement. The brighter, the better!
As the animals excitedly brainstormed ideas, another voice joined in from above. It was Oliver the Owl, swooping down from a nearby branch. He was the wisest of them all, known for his calm and thoughtful demeanour.
Perhaps,
Oliver began, before we get too carried away, we should consider what this parade is truly about. The letter says it’s not just about showing off, but about coming together in unity and friendship. This could be our chance to share our unique qualities with animals from all over the world.
The animals paused, thinking about Oliver’s wise words.
He’s right,
said Ella. It’s not just about how we look or what we can do—it’s about showing the world that we can come together, no matter how different we are.
The idea of unity and togetherness stirred something deep within the animals. Each of them, no matter how big or small, had something special to offer. But they also realized that the parade was an opportunity to celebrate not just themselves, but each other.
We can all bring something different to the parade,
said Leo. Whether it’s our strength, our speed, or our creativity. Together, we can make this the grandest event the world has ever seen.
Excitement buzzed through the crowd once more, but now with a new sense of purpose. The animals were not just excited about showing off their talents—they were excited to share this experience with creatures from all over the world.
But how do we get to the Great Meadow?
asked Miri the Meerkat, her small voice filled with wonder. It sounds like it’s far away from here.
Ella thought for a moment, then smiled. The letter didn’t say how, but I have a feeling that when it’s time, we’ll find our way there.
The animals nodded in agreement, trusting that the journey ahead would reveal itself when the moment was right.
For now,
said Oliver the Owl, we should start preparing. The Great Big Animal Parade is going to be something we’ll remember for the rest of our lives.
With that, the animals of the jungle began to disperse, each one filled with excitement and anticipation. They didn’t know exactly what the parade would be like, or how they would get there, but they knew one thing for sure: this would be the greatest adventure they had ever been a part of.
As the sun climbed higher into the sky, the jungle was alive with chatter and laughter. The animals were already imagining the wonders that awaited them at the Great Big Animal Parade, and they couldn’t wait to see what surprises the future held.
The mysterious invitation had sparked a sense of wonder in every creature, and they knew that whatever the parade turned out to be, it would be a celebration of everything that made them special—together.
And so, the preparations for the greatest parade in history began.
2. Planning the Parade
The animal leaders—Lion, Elephant, and Owl—gather to plan the route, the music, and who will lead each section.
The jungle buzzed with excitement as news of the Great Big Animal Parade spread far and wide. Animals from every corner of the land were eager to show off their talents, but one thing was clear—if the parade was going to be as grand as the mysterious invitation promised, it needed to be planned carefully. And so, the animal leaders gathered for a meeting to begin organizing the biggest event the world had ever seen.
At the heart of the jungle, beneath the same great baobab tree where the invitation had first appeared, the leaders assembled. Lion, known for his strength and leadership, took his place at the center. Next to him stood the wise and calm Elephant, whose memory and gentle nature made her the perfect organizer. Perched above them on a low-hanging branch was Owl, the jungle's wisest creature, known for his thoughtful advice and ability to see the bigger picture.
As the last of the leaders gathered, Lion spoke in his deep, rumbling voice. The Great Big Animal Parade will be a momentous event, but it’s going to take some serious planning. We need to make sure every animal is represented, and that each section of the parade is coordinated perfectly.
Elephant nodded in agreement, her large ears flapping gently. We’ll need to make sure there’s a proper route, too. It should be long enough for all the animals to participate, but easy enough for the younger and smaller creatures to keep up.
Owl, perched quietly with his feathers ruffling in the wind, hooted softly. Indeed, we must ensure that every animal, from the tiniest mouse to the tallest giraffe, has a place in this grand celebration. This is about unity, and it’s our job to make sure the parade reflects that.
The leaders looked around at one another, each knowing the weight of the task ahead. The parade would be an extraordinary event, but it would take careful planning to bring all the animals together.
Well,
Lion said, clearing his throat. Let’s get started. First things first: the route.
Elephant, who had already been thinking about this, unfurled a large map of the jungle and its surrounding areas. The map showed winding rivers, thick forests, open meadows, and distant mountains.
I think we should start the parade at the Great Meadow,
Elephant suggested, pointing to a vast, grassy field at the edge of the map. It’s large enough to hold all the animals before the parade begins. From there, we can wind through the jungle, pass the river, and end at the Ocean’s Edge. That way, even the sea creatures can participate.
Lion nodded approvingly. That’s a good idea. We’ll need plenty of space for everyone to gather at the start. The Great Meadow is perfect for that.
Owl flew down from his perch and landed beside the map, his sharp eyes scanning the route. We’ll also need to make sure the route is clear and safe for all the animals. The smaller creatures might get trampled if we’re not careful. Perhaps we can arrange the parade by size, with the larger animals leading and the smaller ones following behind.
That’s a great point, Owl,
Elephant said thoughtfully. "We’ll make sure the big
